Dave Worthington

Overview Highs & Lows Results Players Used Players In/Out

Dave Worthington had held a number of positions at the club including Commercial Manager, but his hardest task came as Caretaker Manager after the controversial sacking of Kieran O'Regan.

The Shaymen still had a good chance of making the play-off's with the club just three points off the magical zone. A second successive promotion was a strong possibility with a bit of concentration from the players and guidance from the manager required.

Things did not get off to a good start with Town on the wrong end of a 4-0 hammering down at promotion rivals Cambridge United. But results picked up and Worthington steered his side to pick up 10 points out of the next possible 12 pushing Halifax into the final play-off place.

Unfortunately the form deserted the players at the wrong time and the club lost the final two games of the season. A 2-1 home defeat against Scarborough and defeat at Exeter on the last day by the same scoreline put paid to any hopes of promotion.

There was still an outside chance of being involved in the play-offs going into the final game on the South Coast but had the Shaymen won they would still have missed out as results elsewhere went the wrong way.

Mark Lillis was brought in as manager during the summer ending Dave Worthington's temporary and mixed managerial career at Halifax Town.
