Neil Redfearn
Neil Redfearn was brought to the club by Paul Bracewell and was a signing that captured the imagination of the supporters given the successful career he had enjoyed. He had played Premier League football for Barnsley, Charlton and Bradford and had plenty to offer even if he was well into his thirties.
When Paul Bracewell left the club Redfearn was put in temporary control alongside Tony Parks. Their dual caretaker partnership lasted until Alan Little took over the reigns of the club.
The combative midfielder had another spell in charge at the end of Little's tenure at the club. He failed to save the club from relegation although it would have taken a miracle to do as such.
Redfearn wanted the job full time even though the future of the club was unknown given the financial collapse which led to the administrators being brought in. Bob Walker had supposedly offered him the managers job, but this was denied by administrator Peter O'Hara which led to Bob Walker resigning from his position.
The new board appointed Chris Wilder as manager and Neil Redfearn was never to pull on a Town shirt or take control of the side again.
